Richard Disney takes on the London Marathon for
Children with Leukaemia
Richard Disney, founder and MD of catering and
hospitality recruitment firm rd resourcing, is
taking on the Virgin London Marathon in April
2011 for children's cancer charity, Children
with Leukaemia.
Richard, who is a keen runner and cyclist, has
never yet taken on the London Marathon until
now, but says that he is ready for the challenge
and is looking forward to putting himself to the
test.
"I've wanted to do the London Marathon for as
long as I can remember," he says, "but each year
I've either had other commitments or I have been
unable to get in. But 2011 is my year - I've
been training hard in-between running the
business and of course spending time with my
family, and I feel well prepared and up to the
challenge."
Rather than the traditional running gear,
Richard will be running in a waiter's uniform of
white shirt, black tie and waistcoat - in
support of rd resourcing and also his staff and
clients, many of whom have already pledged their
support.
"I
thought about wearing a chef's hat, but as it's
bound to fall off I settled on a front-of-house
uniform instead," he said.
Richard has been making up for lost time by
training late in the evening or early in the
morning, and is looking forward to the challenge
of completing the mammoth 26 miles.
"It will certainly be a challenge, but I'm
really looking forward to it. More than anything
I want to exceed my £2,000 target for Children
with Leukaemia and raise as much as possible.
Please dig deep and sponsor me - it's a very
worthy cause and they will appreciate every
penny."
