Hospitality jobs hotting up in 2011
There has never been a better time for
candidates considering a career, part-time job
or even a temporary role in the hospitality
industry.
With the Royal Wedding fast approaching,
bringing with it an extra Bank Holiday in April
combined with the Easter and May breaks, not to
mention a multitude of sports and activities for
the Summer period and increasing numbers of
Britons choosing to holiday at home, 2011 is
full of opportunities for jobs in hospitality.
Number-crunchers are predicting that there could
be around 30,000 new hospitality jobs created
every year for the next six years and that the
industry is continuing to grow at pace.
"The industry is in a remarkably resilient
mood," said Philippe Rossiter of the Institute
of Hospitality, according to The Mirror.
"It has benefited from continual growth over the
last 30 years and although this trend has slowed
more recently due to the recession, People 1st,
the Sector Skills Council, believes there will
be a further 10% growth in the industry by 2017,
creating 208,000 jobs."
Jobs in hospitality vary greatly and one of the
main benefits is that people of different skills
and levels of experience can easily find a
foothold in the industry.
As
a hospitality recruitment firm, rd resourcing
work with a wide demographic of people, from
students seeking Summer jobs and College pupils
looking for weekend work, to qualified chefs and
experienced bar supervisors looking for the next
step in their career.
Hospitality staff at rd resourcing experience a
range of roles, from bar work at major
racecourse venues and waiting jobs at sporting
events, to high-end corporate events and private
functions such as weddings.
The flexibility offered in hospitality,
particularly in temporary work, is another major
plus point and is particularly beneficial to
those who are studying or who have family
commitments.
"We have an excellent team of temporary staff,
many of whom have found permanent jobs through
us and continued their career in hospitality,"
says Richard Disney, founder and MD at rd
resourcing.
"Our staff enjoy the flexibility we can offer
along with the variety of roles, which gives
them experience of different jobs and
responsibilities. We also offer training to our
hospitality staff, which is obviously essential
for the task in-hand but also looks great on
their CV," Richard added.
