Arrival of
US restaurant chain Denny's could boost UK catering jobs
The
arrival of major US restaurant chain Denny's is expected
to boost UK
catering jobs. The
popular American franchise will initially be launched in
Manchester and the West Midlands, with further plans to
open more restaurants across the UK within the next 2
years.
Denny's is
popular with British tourists visiting the US.
Steve
Dunn, Denny's executive in charge of development, said:
"Our brand is probably just as well known by English
families as it is in Florida and California, as they
make up one of the largest groups of diners that we see
in Disney World.
"Our UK
fan base is huge as evidenced by the large number of
really positive comments we get at our Disney World
outlets in the US."
He
added that the recent Emergency Budget and reduced
corporation tax attracted the restaurant chain, and
believes that as "one of the best known restaurant
brands in the world", new franchisees will be keen to
come on board with Denny's.
Turnover in Denny's US restaurants averages $1.7bn every
year.
